On July 22, 2024, President Joe Biden shared a letter on his X account saying that he will not be vying for a second term in office. Biden participated in the June Presidential debate and was widely criticized by viewers who said he never gave clear answers to the questions asked. There were also questions about his health status and his age even from his fellow Democrats.
In his letter, Biden shared some of the achievements he has made as the president including;
lowering prescription drug costs for seniors, and in expanding affordable health care to a record number of Americans. We’ve provided critically needed care to a million veterans exposed to toxic substances. Passed the first gun safety law in 30 years. Appointed the first African American woman to the Supreme Court. He added that he will not be seeking reelection and instead focus on serving his country for the remaining months of his term.
It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.

Brent has been campaigning for his presidency since 2022. He duets random videos and says “Vote for me for president of the United States. I’m Brent Peterson,” with funny-looking filters. It began as a joke but since Biden announced he will not be vying for a second term, TikTok followers have been pushing for Brent to take his candidacy seriously.
