Career Timeline

Before joining Fox News, she worked for KMGH-TV, the ABC affiliate in Denver, Colorado. While at KMGH, Cotton was the nighttime reporter covering law enforcement, crime, and justice.

One of her most memorable events while at KMGH was covering the Boulder King Soopers supermarket shooting and the December 2021 Marshall fire.

Cotton has also filled out reports about suspected misconduct by law enforcement authorities, such as Kyle Vinson’s brutal arrest in Aurora. She has also reported on the disputed detention of then-75-year-old Karen Garner in 2020, and the impact of Elijah McClain’s death following his 2019 arrest.

Before joining KMGH, Cotton worked as a multimedia journalist at Nashville, Tennessee’s ABC station WKRN-TV. While at WKRN-TV, she produced and edited real-time videos for stories about the storms that struck Middle Tennessee in March 2020, the killings in Sumner County in 2019, and Daniel Hambrick’s shooting in 2018.

The most important part of her career happened when she was nominated for an Emmy in 2020 for the coverage she provided of the social justice marches during the summer. Her first ever job in the broadcasting industry was at NBC station WITN-TV where she worked as a reporter.

As a reporter for WITN-TV, she covered stories for Onslow County, Duplin County, Jones County, and Carteret County on television and social media, including the destruction caused by Hurricane Matthew and the controversy surrounding the US military’s nude photos.

She also reported on the disappearance and eventual death of three-year-old Mariah Woods, and the KC-130 crash that claimed the lives of sixteen service members.
