Cory Reppenhagen is an American meteorologist working for KUSA TV 9NEWS as a meteorologist, severe weather journalist, and photojournalist. He is part of the Weather Impact Team launched in July 2024 on 9New. Before joining 9News, Cory worked for ten years at WFTV in Orlando as a weather journalist covering tornadoes, hurricanes, mudslides, floods, fire, and ice storms.
College
Cory studied Mass communications and broadcasting at Colorado Mesa University and graduated in 1999. He then joined Mississippi State University in 2006 and later graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Geoscience and Meteorology in 2010.
Career
Early in his career, Cory worked as a photographer at KJCT News 8 and KKCO011. He then moved to KAKE 10 in January 2000 before joining WFTV where he worked for 10 years. While at WFTV, Cory covered numerous tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, severe weather outbreaks, snow, fire, and thunderstorms. He was immediately hooked and became a storm photographer and chaser.
One of his most memorable moments was flying on a Hurricane Hunter to cover a hurricane in October 2005 while live on WFTV Ch. 9. He has since covered Hurricanes Ivan, Jeanne, Dennis, Katrina, Charley, Frances, Ophelia, Rita, and Wilma.
His coverage of the tornado outbreak across Alabama won him a Suncoast Regional Emmy award in April 2011. Cory loves to photograph severe weather and document them to see their effect on the community.Â
He went back to school in 2010 to advance his studies and become a certified meteorologist. After obtaining his degree, he began focusing on forecasting and reporting the weather besides being a photographer.Â
Cory joined KMGH-TV 7News in June 2013 working as a meteorologist and weather forecaster. He then joined KUSA-TV 9News in June 2017 as a meteorologist and weather reporter.Â

Cory is married to his wife Tiffany, a news producer. They have two children Roman (born in 2012) and Sydney (born in 2015).Â
