Who is KOMO Meteorologist George Waldenberger?

George Waldenberger is a meteorologist working at KOMO TV. He is the weathercaster for the morning newscast at KOMO 4 News every weekday morning. Before joining KOMO, George worked at WFTV as a meteorologist for 11 years.

Family

George was born and raised in Wisconsin on their family dairy farm. He comes from a large family with 10 brothers and sisters. He joked on Instagram how they passed down their clothes but still made them fashionable when they were young.

Waldenberger is possibly single or keeping his relationship private. He was previously linked to a fellow meteorologist but it was confirmed that they are just colleagues.

George Waldenberger Career Timeline

Waldenberger graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelors degree in Geological Engineering. He also has a Masters degree in Atmospheric Science and Meteorology from UCLA.

Waldenberger began his career at Mueser Rutledge Consulting Engineers in April 2000 as a Geotechnical Engineer. He had his first weathercaster job at KTLA in 2004 where he forecasted, produced, and wrote scripts.

In 2005,  Waldenberger joined KMEG 14 News as a meteorologist. While at KMEG, he developed “The Weather Wizard” and “How’d They Do That?” special series which was loved by their viewers. In August 2007, George moved to KJRH where he anchored forecasts for tv news and also produced science stories for TV news.

From January 2010 to December 2012, George worked at KSHB-TV as a weather forecaster. He covered severe storms and chased storms while reporting live on-air. In January 2013, he joined WFTV in Orlando Florida as a meteorologist. He has been working at WFTV for 11 years.

Besides being a meteorologist, George is also a snowboard instructor. He worked at Snow Creek Ski Area in 2011 as a snowboard instructor. He has also worked as a motorcycle training assistant and a teaching assistant in the chemistry department at UCLA.

Hobbies

While not presenting the weather news, George loves to travel the world, truck race, or bare hike. He has shared his experiences of walking barefoot through the Saklikent Gorge in Turkey, hiking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, spending the night sleeping on the sand in Death Valley, and chasing a racing truck through Mexico on the Baja 500.

Leaving WFTV

On August 28, 2024, George announced that he would be leaving WFTV after working there for 11 years. On September 20, KOMO announced that George would be joining the station as a weathercaster for the morning newscast.
