Jack Sock is an American pickleball player and retired tennis player. His career-best singles and doubles rankings are No. 8 in the world (as of 20 November 2017) and No. 2 in the world, respectively. Sock has also won four ATP singles titles and 17 ATP doubles titles in his tennis career so far. With Melanie Oudin, Sock won a mixed doubles title at the 2011 US Open. With Vasek Pospisil, he won three men’s doubles titles at the 2014 Wimbledon Championships. With Mike Bryan, he won the 2018 Wimbledon Championships and the 2018 US Open.
In addition, Sock and Mike Bryan took home the men’s doubles crown in the 2018 ATP Finals. Sock earned a gold medal in mixed doubles with Bethanie Mattek-Sands at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, as well as a bronze medal in men’s doubles with Steve Johnson.

Parents
Jack Sock was born and raised by his parents Larry and Pamela Sock in Lincoln, Nebraska. Jack together with his mother and brother moved to Kansas when he was 12 to train at the Mike Wolf Tennis Academy.
His older brother Eric is also a tennis player. In January 2015, his brother Eric was placed on life support for eight days for Lemierre’s Syndrome. This was a major setback for the Sock family as Eric nearly died.

Retirement
Jack Sock announced his retirement on August 27, 2023, in a farewell Instagram post. Part of his farewell read;
“It’s been 14 years of memories I will never forget…From winning four Grand Slams, Olympic gold and bronze, Top 10 rankings in singles and doubles, and competing on the Davis Cup and Laver Cup teams, it’s been beyond what I could’ve ever dreamed. Without the help of so many people, none of that could’ve happened.”
His last event in Tennis was at the US Open where he played in mixed doubles with Coco Gauff. He debuted as a pickleball player in May 2023 playing at the PPA North Carolina Open.
