Julia Avery is an American multimedia journalist working at KCTV News 5 as a reporter and anchor. She has previously worked at KMOV TV as a reporter from December 2020 to July 2023. She has also worked at KRCR ABC 7 as a news reporter, producer, and anchor during weekdays. Aside from journalism, Julia is an avid thrifter, cross fitter, and also loves traveling around the world.

Julia Career Timeline
Avery initially served as an intern at Thomson Reuters in Belgium in 2015. She served as the television news reporter, monitored meetings and debates within the European Union daily, and assisted in covering EU Summits.
Avery also covered the aftermath of a terrorist attack and the lockdown of the city. She started her career professionally in April 2014 at KOMU-TV as a news reporter and anchor.
Avery joined KRCR ABC 7 in 2017 and worked as a news reporter, producer, and anchor on weekdays. During her time in California, she covered deadly and historic wildfires, riots, and the federal fight against marijuana farms. After 3 1/2 years with the station, she left Northern California to pursue other opportunities in News closer to family in the Midwest.
Avery said that she loved her time there in Redding and that the Northstate will always hold a special place in her heart. When asked what she’ll miss most about Northern California, Julia said the mountains, lakes, its natural beauty, and, of course, the people.
In December 2020, Avery joined KMOV-TV in St Louis, Missouri as a multimedia journalist. In addition to her role as a journalist, she has also served at First United Methodist Church since 2005 on Various Mission Trips. They help to combat disasters and provide humanitarian relief.
In July 2023, Julia announced that she would be leaving KMOV. She later joined KCTV News 5 as a news anchor and reporter.
