On Wednesday afternoon (20th December 2023) Nicole shared a personal announcement live on air that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She said;
“It did come as a shock–I’m still in disbelief in many ways. I didn’t have any signs, I didn’t have any symptoms, I still don’t, and I still feel great,”
She assured her viewers that she would still be at the anchor desk as she continued to receive medical care. Nicole also thanked her bosses at NewsNation who have supported her through her journey.
“I’m hopeful that seeing my journey will help someone, whether they are also battling cancer or if they have a loved one who is because cancer truly touches all of us in some way. I have gone through every single emotion, and if you ask if I’m scared, I am. But I’m choosing to stay positive. I’m gonna keep a smile and I have faith.”
On August 15, 2024, Nichole updated her followers about her health. She revealed that her recovery journey is going well.

Hair
In January 2024, Nicole showed her new bald look as she completed her second round of chemotherapy. Her hair began falling off due to the treatment and she opted to shave her hair. She donated her hair to an organization that helps children battling cancer.
