Tim is probably in his 40s, he celebrates his birthday every December. Tim was raised by his parents including his mother Joanna alongside his three siblings.

Tim is married to his wife Jordan. They met while working at Spectrum News 1 where Jordan was an executive producer. They got engaged in 2018 and got married on July 13, 2019. Tim and his wife welcomed their daughter Southern Pearl Spears on March 17, 2023. 

Career Timeline

Tim graduated from Pittsburg State University with a degree in communication and broadcasting. He began his career at Carthage Broadcasting Inc. as a news director. He then joined KOAM-TV in September 2014 as a weekend anchor and reporter.

Tim anchored hour-long newscasts during weekends and was a fill-in anchor and reporter during the weekends. In March 2017, Tim joined Spectrum News 1 in Charlotte, North Carolina as a reporter and fill-in anchor during the morning, midday, and night newscasts.

Tim and his team made the documentary Carolina in Crisis describing the opioid epidemic in North Carolina. Their documentary won an Emmy award for their excellent reporting. 

In April 2021, Tim joined ABC57 News South Bend as an evening anchor and investigative reporter. He anchored the 10 and 11 pm newscast covering breaking news, exclusive interviews, and original investigations.

Tim Spears Leaving ABC57

On September 20, 2024, Tim shared on his Facebook that he would be leaving ABC57. He shared numerous photos of his time at ABC57 and reminisced about the achievements he had accomplished there. He said;

I’ve lived a lifetime these last three and a half years. We’ve won awards, braced a blizzard, and brought a baby into the world. Michiana feels like home. There’s still more work to do, but I know I’m leaving ABC57 in great hands. Don’t expect a long goodbye tonight on NightTeam. There’s not much to say other than this place, and the people here, mean a lot to me.

On September 27, he announced joining WISH-TV as a weekend anchor and investigative reporter. The official statement from WISH-TV said;

“Tim Spears has joined WISH-TV as the newest member of the I-Team and the weekend anchor. Spears, who previously worked in South Bend, expressed his excitement about joining the team and contributing to the station’s mission.”
