Yingt was born and raised by his parents Gerald Yingst II and Debbie Lee Yingst in Hershey, Pennsylvania, United States. His mother was previously a photographer, social worker, and substitute teacher.

Career
Yingst first cofounded the media outlet News2Share with Ford Fischer whom he met at American University where they both studied. He then joined One America News Network OANN covering the Trump administration as the Chief White House Correspondent.
Yingst then joined Fox News in August 2018 as a foreign correspondent. He has been living in Jerusalem covering the wars in the Middle East. His foreign assignment was in Israel where he has reported amid rocket fire and grenades during the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Yingst broke a story in August 2019 about an oil tanker named the Bonita Queen. The tanker was smuggling Iranian oil to Syria. Two weeks after the Fox News report was published, the U.S. government sanctioned the tanker.
In September 2019, Yingst reported on a classified Iranian base in Eastern Syria. The base could store precision-guided missiles, according to Western Intelligence sources. Six days after the report, the site was targeted, and 21 people were reported to have been killed.

In February 2022, Yingst moved to Ukraine where he reported on the Russian invasion of Ukraine from Kyiv. Since October 2023, Yingst has been at the forefront of the Gaza Strip reporting on the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
While reporting the Kfar Aza massacre, Yingst was forced to take cover while with the IDF in Gaza due to the ongoing conflict.
While reporting the Be’eri massacre, the Fox News journalist described the scene saying; “You could smell the stench of death in the air…The most horrific thing I have ever seen.” Yingst has been praised for his extensive reporting during wars.
