Whit Johnson TV Career

Whit began his journalism career in 2005 working as an evening anchor and reporter for KNDO/KNDU-TV. He then joined the NBC affiliate station KSL-TV in Salt Lake City as a weekday evening anchor and reporter.

Johnson has since worked at CBS News as a fill-in anchor and at KNBC where he was an anchor for Today in LA alongside Daniella Guzman. While at KNBC, Whit together with his team investigated the reported scams at auto-repair shops which won them a Los Angeles Emmy.

He also covered the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He later co-hosted KNBC’s special report of the Opening Ceremony in Rio which won an award at the Los Angeles Emmy.

Among the many breaking news reports that Whit covered, one was the 2013 LAX shooting rampage. Whit was on air for nine hours covering the cop killer Christopher Dorner in 2013 who was at war with the LAPD.
